2012 sailing venue to mark handover

The venue for the 2012 Olympic sailing events, the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy (WPNSA) will be marking the Beijing to London hand over this Sunday, August 24th. They will unveil a special 2012 flag, given to the Academy by the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.

The flag will be hoisted by Mark Stubbings, Chief Executive of the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy with local Weymouth and Portland residents invited to attend at 15:00 on Sunday, August 24th.

The flag ceremony will also mark the outstanding achievement of the Skandia Team GBR in Qingdao, pulling in a record 4 gold, 1 sliver and 1 bronze. The sailing and windsurfing heroes are a key ingredient to helping the whole GBR Olympic team achieve the best medal haul for 100 years.
