Schoolboy Michael Perham, who is hoping to become the youngest person to sail, solo, non-stop around the world has made a flying start. He is now south of Brest heading into the Bay of Biscay making nine knots with a fair wind.

He set off from Falmouth yesterday in Totallymoney his chartered Open 50. Michael, 16, from Potters Bar, Herts is enjoying the following winds brought by the high pressure system over him. The only worry at the moment could be from fog.
